WordPress dominates as world’s most popular blogging platform

WordPress is an excellent publishing platform for blogs and websites and in the last few years it has really sky-rocketed in popularity!

The Pingdom team just completed a survey and found that WordPress is in use by 48% of the top 100 blogs in the world. This is a huge increase from the last survey conducted just over three years ago, with 32% of the top 100 blogs using WordPress. Continue reading

What is RSS?

What is RSS? We get asked this question often and thought it was time we added an explanation!

RSS  stands for Really Simple Syndication. It’s a system that allows you to subscribe to websites so that you can easily read and view their updated web content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. RSS makes it possible for you to keep up with your favorite blogs without having to revisit them to check for updates.

It’s similar in concept to subscribing to an email newsletter, but with RSS the regular updates are called “feeds” and they are delivered to your RSS Reader whenever new content is added.
