One of the things we like most about the new Facebook Timeline is the new the admin panel. It’s located right at the top of your page and it can be easily hidden from your view when you don’t need it.
Although the information in the admin panel was available before the new Timeline rolled out, this new admin panel makes it so much easier for you to manage and monitor your page all in the one place.
What’s in the admin panel?
Manage, Build Audience, Help and Hide
At the very top right of the admin panel, you’ll see some tabs; Manage, Build Audience, Help and Hide.
The “Manage” tab is where you can edit your page settings. Click on ‘Edit Page’ to customise your page settings such as; contact details, location, hours, website etc.
In the Manage tab, you can view your activity log. Although your notifications will alert you to any new activity, the activity log is useful to view all recent activity at a glance, such as new comments or any posts by fans.
As a page owner the default setting when you comment on your own page, is that you comment will appear as your page name. If you want to post as yourself from your personal profile, rather than as your page name, you can do that by clicking “use Facebook as {your name}” in the Manage Tab.
The “Build Your Audience” tab lets you invite email contacts or friends, share the page or create Facebook advertisement.
The “Hide” button removes the big admin panel from the top of your screen so you don’t have to scroll down to see your page.
Notifications
On the top left of the admin panel; you’ll see all of your notifications. You receive a notification when someone posts a comment on your wall, sends you a message, likes or shares something you’ve posted. You’ll also receive notifications when someone else comments on something you commented on via another page.
Messages
This is located on the top right of your admin panel. This is important to keep an eye on, because this is where you’ll see private messages that are sent to the page. You can turn this messaging feature off, but it’s generally not recommended as interaction with people is encouraged on Facebook!
New Likes
Underneath the notifications panel, you can view your new page likers and when they liked you. You can click “See All” to see everyone.
Insights
This is where the really powerful stuff is! Under “Insights” you’ll see a graph that outlines all of your posts, the number of people who were talking about each post and your total reach. The insights graph gives you a snapshot of what happens when you post things and how much interaction you have on your page. Click “see all” to get a more detailed view of your posts and more information on the people who like your page.
Page Tips
This is in the bottom right of your admin panel and includes handy tips from Facebook about how to use your business page better and increase engagement with your followers.

If you found this tip helpful or if you have a comment or question, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll find even more helpful Facebook Timeline tips here.
