Facebook pages are an excellent place to build connections with people. With Facebook Timeline now rolled out to all pages you have the opportunity to express your individuality on Facebook and create a fully customised page for your business.
In this article, we’ll show you how to draw attention to featured content on your Timeline – something every page owner can use to their advantage!
Pinning Content
One of the great new features of Facebook Timeline is the ability to ‘pin’ or anchor content to the top of your Timeline.
When you pin a post, it will always appear at the very top left of your Timeline for up to 7 days. We love this feature because it’s a great way to display content like promotions, events or articles that you want to draw people’s attention to.
A pinned post is recognised by the orange flag that appears in the top right hand corner.

To ‘pin’ an image, choose the post you want to pin, then hover your mouse over the top right hand corner, then click on the ‘edit’ icon that appears – it looks like a pencil.
Select ‘Pin to Top’ from the drop down menu.
Your post is now pinned to the very top left of your page, just under the area where you add a new status update.
It’s easy to unpin a post too. Just follow the steps above, but in the drop down menu click on ‘unpin from top’. Easy!
Highlighting Content
When pinning a post, you’ll probably notice a star icon next to the edit icon – this is the highlight feature.
Click on the star to highlight a post. Your post is now enlarged to full width of your timeline, but it hasn’t moved the position of the post. It will still appear in the timeline on the date it was posted, but it’s now ‘featured’ right across your page.
This is really handy for drawing attention to other important posts. Just click on the star again to remove a highlighted post and it will return to its original size.

Delete, Edit or Hide a Post
It’s a good idea to clean up your page occasionally to hide any posts that have not received any likes or comments, or delete them if they are out of date and no longer relevant. To delete or hide a post, click on the pencil icon in the top right corner, then select delete or hide from the drop down menu.
Another handy feature in this menu is the ability to change the date of a post – just click on >edit >change date. This will move the post into a more recent (or older) position on the timeline.
