Sharing made Easy

So you want to share a link on social media, but you’re not sure the best way to do it? Or when you’ve shared a link it’s so long that it makes your status update look ugly (and uses up precious space).

There is an easier way. I recommend you shorten the link so it takes up less space in your update and makes it easier for others to click on it.

There are two services I personally use, both of which are completely free, that you also could use to create these short links.

Bitly.com is currently my favourite and I use an account so I can store and track my shortened links. You can also use it just for shortening a link without setting up an account.

All you do is go to bitly.com enter the link in the box and click on shorten, and it will give you a short link. You then copy that link and that’s what you share on social media. You end up with a link like http://bit.ly/h20X1Z (this one links to the Web Chameleon home page).

Tinyurl.com works much the same and also gives the option of choosing the link extension. See below where I customised my short link http://tinyurl.com/webchameleon

That’s it! Sharing made simple.
